Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common chronic conditions affecting dogs.

It causes pain, is incurable and progressive and it can severely affect the quality of life of your dog.

Although the significance of primary vs secondary canine OA is undetermined, canine OA per se is likely to have a significant genetic background.

What can we do to help reduce incidences of OA?

Avoid breeding from stock where juvenile, early onset OA has been diagnosed. (A good example of this is  not using a stud dog that is too young)

Thankyou for supporting the Joint Breed Health Scheme.
